David P. Silverman est un américain archéologue et égyptologue . Il a obtenu un diplôme de premier cycle de l'Université Rutgers où il s'est spécialisé en histoire de l'art. Il a ensuite étudié l'égyptologie en tant qu'étudiant diplômé à l' Université de Chicago où il a obtenu son doctorat. Peu de temps après, il a occupé un poste à l' exposition internationale Les trésors de Toutankhamon qui s'est déroulée à l'origine de 1977 à 1982, et a continué à travailler en tant que conservateur sur les expositions suivantes. Par la suite, il a continué à travailler dans diverses institutions, dont le Field Museum de Chicago . Depuis 1996, il est Eckley Brinton Coxe, Jr. Professeur d'égyptologie à l' Université de Pennsylvanie et conservateur en chef de la section égyptienne du Musée d'archéologie et d'anthropologie de l' Université de Pennsylvanie . Parallèlement à cela, il enseigne actuellement un cours en ligne via Coursera intitulé Introduction à l'Égypte ancienne et à sa civilisation . Certains de ses travaux archéologiques ont inclus des fouilles à Bersheh et à Saqqarah .
