John Stachel - John Stachel

John Stachel ( / s t æ tʃ əl / , né le 29 Mars 1928) est un Américain physicien et philosophe de la science .

Biographie

Stachel a obtenu son doctorat au Stevens Institute of Technology in Physics sur un sujet de relativité générale en 1958. Après avoir occupé différents postes d'enseignant à l' université de Lehigh et à l' université de Pittsburgh , il est allé en 1964 à l'université de Boston où il a été professeur de physique jusqu'à son éméritation .

En 1977, Stachel est devenu le premier éditeur du Einstein Papers Project , puis à l'Université de Boston . Les deux premiers volumes (sur un projet de vingt-cinq) de The Collected Papers of Albert Einstein ont été publiés pendant son mandat.

Il dirige le Boston University Center for Einstein Studies et publie avec Don Howard la série de livres Einstein Studies .

Stachel est également l'auteur d'un texte intitulé Einstein: From «B» to «Z». En 2005, il a prononcé la Master-Mind Lecture de la British Academy .
