Histoire
En 1830, John K. Smith ouvrit une pharmacie à Philadelphie , et son frère cadet, George, le rejoignit en 1841 pour former John K Smith & Co. En 1865, Mahlon Kline rejoignit Smith and Shoemaker , alors que John K Smith and Co était devenu en attendant, en tant que comptable. En 1875, il a assumé des responsabilités supplémentaires en tant que vendeur et a ajouté de nombreux nouveaux et grands comptes, en récompense la société, Mahlon K Smith and Company, a été rebaptisée Smith, Kline and Company.

SmithKline Beckman et The Beecham Group plc ont fusionné en 1989 pour former SmithKline Beecham plc. Plus tard fusionné avec Glaxo Wellcome pour former GlaxoSmithKline en 2000.
